The Segway doesn't have an accelerator, pedals or even a brake, instead it is controlled by shifting your body forward and backward:

• If you lean your body forward - it will go forward
• Leaning back will make it slow down and stop
• The more you lean forward - the faster you will go
• To make a turn you simply lean the steering sideways
• Segway can turn around 360^* on the same spot - much like a tank

Located in Sydney's St Marys, at the Historic Mamre Homestead built in 1835. There are plenty of other things to do at the homestead:

Segways are so easy to get the hang of, but here are a few basic rules:

• Wear the helmet provided
• Be within alcohol driving limits
• Keep speed down (10 and 20kmph limits available)
• Be responsible rider
• Be mindful of other riders
• Don't ride next to each other
• Keep a good distance
• Don't ride off the track
• Aggressive riding = insuries
• Safe riding = awesome experience

The Segway riders must meet the following requirements:

• Weigh between 30-120kg
• Pregnant can't participate
• Recommended age for kids is minimum 9 y.o.
• The maximum age depends on the personal health condition, but we don't recommend riding Segways if you are over 70 y.o.
• Riders must sign a liability waiver form
• Must wear helmets (provided, but feel free to byo)
• Obey the Segway Safety Rules (see articles above)

The legal requirements in most states in Australia do not allow riding Segways in public areas (roads, beaches, footpaths or parks). This restriction is due to the powerful electric motor used in Segways (1500 watts). Anyone riding a Segway in a public place could be fined for driving an unregistered vehicle.

However, you can use them on a private property. Segways don't produce noise or smells, there are no hot parts, which is great if you using them indoors, such a warehouse. Other applications are farms, security patrolling, airports or movie production studios.

Segways aren't cheap. The basic i2 unit in Australia cost $8,000, where as offroad version - x2 will set you back $10,000.
